Our story began in March 2024 when our founder, a student at Georgetown University, began searching for affordable housing in New York City for his 10-week summer internship and nearly fell victim to a scam. Around the same time, he also realized he had no clue how to find a summer subtenant for his own lease in Washington, D.C. Discussions with peers revealed a heavy reliance on informal networks such as personal connections and Facebook Groups to find summer internship housing, underscoring a widespread, unresolved issue. This experience inspired the creation of Loftly—a platform designed to bridge the gap between supply and demand in the subleasing market. At Loftly, we streamline the subletting process, enabling college students and young professionals to effortlessly find and secure fairly-priced living spaces, while also helping college students efficiently utilize their vacant properties.
